About MetaLume
MetaLume is the friendly photo metadata scrubber for Mac. Every photo carries an invisible report — where it was taken, when, on what device, sometimes under whose name — and anyone it is sent to can read it. MetaLume shows people everything their photos say, then wipes it in one click: magic-byte verification on the way in, a lossless scrub through Apple ImageIO on the way out, and SHA-256 receipts to prove what changed. It is built for anyone who shares photos online — parents, people selling a home, anyone who would rather not publish their own coordinates.
MetaLume is built by ProfWorkBench, LLC and distributed exclusively through the Mac App Store. It runs 100% offline and sandboxed, with zero telemetry — the app never phones home, and neither does this website. Inspection is free forever; a single purchase unlocks scrubbing for life. It is the approachable sibling of MetaWrite, the same company's forensic metadata suite.
